Ways and Means

The Ways and Means Committee manages our club’s involvement in local activities which involve charitable contributions of our time, effort, and/or goods. This committee proactively seeks opportunities for philanthropy and earmark donations to local charities and/or families in need. Activities have included: Feed My Starving Children, Sack Lunch Sunday, Holiday Families, Villa Park Summerfest and Oktoberfest and planting the Children’s Garden at the Iowa Community Center.

Fundraising

The Fundraising Committee coordinates and organizes fundraising efforts to allow club the means to provide monetary support for both philanthropic donations and our annual scholarship awards to graduating female students in Villa Park. Some of our fundraisers have included the Trick or Trot 5K/1K,  Cinco de Mayo Themed Fundraiser, the Backyard BBQ and the Talk Derby to Me Kentucky Derby Party.

 

Political Forum

The Political Forum Committee facilitates a public forum for local elections, providing citizens with opportunities to have questions answered by candidates for local offices.

 

Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee coordinates the VPJWC high school senior scholarship process. They notify local schools and local media outlets about the award. They review all applications, meet to discuss each candidate, select the winner and attend the scholarship award ceremony to present the award.

 

Membership/Social

The Membership/Social Committee organizes outings and events for current VPJWC members and their families. They work to ensure new members are provided adequate information and mentorship when joining the club. They also plan several off site meetings, including the New Member meeting each September, member appreciation events, holiday parties and guest speakers.
